Being able to get close to this bison was incredible. I'm still in the protection of my truck while he's ignores me. He's just trying to cool off in the hot sun. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get close enough in Yellowstone to take a headshot that fills the frame... I'm so excited for this one!
For photographers, this was taken at 343 mm, 2000/sec at f7.1. On a Canon R5C with an RF 100-500mm lens.

It's incredible to be so close to such a massive animal! I'm glad I went down the Blacktail Plateau Drive and saw him lying down in a little creek. This is a dirt road inside the park on the north side that can be done in any vehicle. Such spectacular views and very low traffic. Loving Yellowstone National Park!
